Romantic Kauai Sunset Tour: Experience Kauai’s Beauty
Watching the sunset is the perfect complement to an already exhilarating experience on a boat tour along the Na Pali Coast. Counterintuitively, the most breathtaking Kauai scenery occurs closer to shore. Explore hidden alcoves, pristine barrier reefs, and the idyllic cliffs on your very own coastline and sea cave tour with Nā Pali Riders.
The Nā Pali coastline offers the most breathtaking escape here on Hawaii’s oft-overlooked gem. Our experienced guides have no reservations about traversing the vast open waters and chasing the horizon.
The Beauty of the Nā Pali Coast
Nā Pali’s 17-mile-long coastline is breathtaking in its splendor. Kauai is rightly known for its stunning natural beauty, but the Nā Pali coastline is unique for its endless trove of hidden waterfalls, sparkling reefs, and hidden sea caves.
We’re not the only ones who think so, too. Some of the region’s most majestic and picturesque sea life also frequent the area, including:
-
- Pods of stunt-loving bottlenose dolphins and Hawaiian spinner dolphins
- Hawaiian green sea turtles, known for their mutual curiosity
- Native seabirds
- Sun-bathing Hawaiian monk seals
- Hawaiian Humpback whales (though you’ll have the best chance of seeing them on our seasonal whale-watching tours!)
Tour Kauai and be all but assured of the most striking marine life, tropical birds, and dream-like natural wonders.
The Sea Caves Experience with Nā Pali Riders
During your Kauai tour, you’ll have the chance to explore the local island like never before. Many locals don’t know the ins and outs of the region’s most spectacular caves like our full-time guides do.
Kauai is a largely pristine enclave of Hawaii, but nowhere is it more evident than Nā Pali’s almost surreal network of sea caves. There, you’ll see the most dazzling sunset reflections on crystalline waters and glistening cave walls, made further entrancing by the gently bellowed echoes of the ocean waves.

FAQ: What to Know Before Your Sunset Tour
What Should I Bring?
We recommend taking a few staples with you during our sunset tour to ensure the best possible experience:
- Reef-safe sunscreen and sunglasses, or any other sun protection you might desire
- A light, quick-drying jacket in the “chillier” months
- All-around comfortable clothing that won’t get too water-logged
- A water container, preferably with a latching top
- Binoculars and a camera, if desired
- Socks and/or water shoes
On your tour, we will also provide light snacks, fruit, non-alcoholic drinks, snorkeling equipment, a waterproof duffel bag to store your personal belongings, and life vests (upon request).
You might also wear a swimsuit and bring a towel if you’d like to swim at one of our stopovers, though not in the actual caves due to visibility and other safety concerns. Depending on tour size, “Seabiscuit” – our trusty Zodiac® rigid hull inflatable raft – has a marginal amount of cargo space. Try to pack in the most orderly way to minimize the chance of losing articles.
What Safety Precautions Should I Know About?
We prioritize your safety above all else. Nā Pali Riders and our equipment are fully Coast Guard certified, and we boast a 100% safety record. To provide the safest, most worry-free experience, we have several safety precautions we require all passengers to follow during the tour:
- No swimming or snorkeling in the sea caves
- Please use only non-toxic sunscreen in order to protect our coral reefs.
- There’s no restroom on our vessel (chosen in part for its 360° views) – please plan accordingly.
- In the unlikely event of an emergency, please follow all instructions of your highly trained and experienced captain.
We rarely cancel tours due to the elements, but we occasionally have to postpone tours for particularly heavy rains, winds, or surf. Check your messages frequently the evening before the tour.
